Kathleen Zellner

 American attorney Kathleen Zellner has been involved in numerous wrongful conviction defense. Some notable clients she has represented include Steven Avery (who was the victim of the 2015 and 2017 Netflix series Making a Murderer), Kevin Fox (who was falsely accused of killing his daughter), Ryan W. Ferguson, Larry Eyler, and 19 exonerees registered in the National Registry of Exonerations. Kathleen Zellner was the second of seven children. Her father Owen Thomas was a geologist, and her mother Winifred was a chemist who eventually became a nurse. At the age of nine, of age the family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After finishing her studies at Marquette University, Wisconsin, she continued to the University of Missouri. Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1981, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, and clerked for 2nd District Illinois Appellate Court justice George W. Lindberg. Kathleen T. Zellner & Associates, Downers Grove, Illinois was her first firm. The firm handles wrongful conviction cases, civil rights violations, medical malpractice, as well as prisoner abuse cases.Zellner has had 19 exonerations as of October 2018and has now 20 exonerations have been granted to clients. A few notable clients Zellner represented include Steven Avery, who was included in the Netflix series Making a Murderer (2015) and (2018). Kevin Fox was falsely accused of murdering his daughter, who was three years old. There are 19 exonerees registered on the National Registry of Exonerations. Newsweek reported that one lawyer claimed that being in front of her at trial was "worse than getting divorced.
